Hoenn Story Guide

But now let's start with the Hoenn Guide. The start into the new region is different from Johto.
This time you need to "unluck" the region. First go and catch a Rattata and train it to level 80.
Yes I am not kidding. You really need an Rattata on level 80. Maybe you think " oh hey! I'm a
smart guy and buy on :)" no, this won't work. You need to be the OT (original trainer) that,
means that you need to catch it by yourself.
But hey it isn't that hard to get a Rattata to level 80. In Mt. Silver you can catch them on
level 50-52. So you need just to train them 30-28 level.
If you got the Rattata, you need to find Youngster Joey. He is lockated between the Kanto
and the Johto Elite Four on the Indigo Plateau.
Now you just need to defeat his army of Rattats. If you done with it, you can talk to the old guy behind Joey and travel to Hoenn. But same as Johto take all the items from your Pokemons
like Leftovers and others. You will first get acces to your old Pokemon, if you have
beaten all 8 Gym Leaders in Hoenn.
If you need help with Joey, watch the video below and see how I did it. As a small hint,
his first Rattata will use the move Sucker Punch, so you can power up a pokemon with
moves like Calm Mind, Dragon Dance and so on without loosing HP.
Take that in mind if you start your battle.
Step 1: First gym vs.Roxanne
Now, that you're finally in Hoenn, you first step is to grab a starter Pokemon. I took the Water-Type Pokemon, but you can take whatever you like.
The first important thing to do in Hoenn is to catch a Marill on Route 104.If you got one, train it to level 14-18. With an Marill on level 18, the next steps will be easier. If you and your Pokemon are ready, continue your journey to Rustboro City.
In Rustboro City your first task is to defeat Roxanne the first gym leader. In this gym you will face Rock-Type Pokemon. With the Marill or the Water-Type Starter Pokemon you can beat her easily.

Step 2: How to get the Devon Goods
The next step is, to talk to the scientist infront of the gym. He asks you to bring back the Devon Goods.
In order to get them, go north to Route 116 and then into the Rusturf Tunnel. In this tunnel you will find an Aquagrant and a Magmagrant. Battle both to get the Devon Goods. Then go back to Rustboro City and talk again with the scientist infront of the gym.
Now you need to find Mr. Stone. You will find him in the Devon Corporation 3F northwest in Rustboro City. He asks you to deliver a letter to his son Steven. His son is in the Granite Cave in Dewford Town.
Try to catch a Psyduk and teach him HM - 05 Flash. This makes Steven easier to find. After that you unlocked the second gym.

Step 3: Battle vs. Brawly
The second gymleader is Brawly. He uses Fighting-Type Pokemons, If you got that Marill and taught him the mobe "Play Rough" you can oneshot all his Pokemon. Otherwise Fly and Psycho Pokemons will work to.

Step 4: The Slateport City Quest
After the second Gym try to catch a Onix or a Geodude in the Granite Cave and train them to level 30. Then go back to Mr. Stone in Rustboro City and talk to him again in the Devon Corporation 3F. Now you can go to Slateport City. Once in Slateport City you will mention that nearly every building is blocked. The First step is to talk to an old guy in the Slateport Shipyard 1F building.
Now the Slateport Museum is open. Go to the second floor and fight all trainers there. After that you can continue your journey to Mauville City.
