Kanto Story Guide
Start:
You can use whatever you like as your sarting Pokemo. With this guide you dont need to pick a specific starter. Go ahead and take what u like.
Your first step is to train your Starter Pokemon to level 10. Next steps shown in the video below:
Step 1: Prepare for the first Gym
After finishing the Viridian School you need to prepare your Team for your first Gym battle. In order to complete your first big challenge you need to catch a Snubull on Route 2. But take in mind that you can only catch this Pokemon in the night. You don't need to haunt a special one. For the story, the stats are incidental. If you got one you only need to level it to level 15.

Step 2: Mt. Moon and the Fossil
Okay now you got your first easy quest to do. First go from Pewter City to Route 3 and battle all trainers to grab a bunch of exp. If you reched the Pokecenter on this Route, go in and heal ur Pokemons. Now your free to train a bit at the entrance of Mt. Moon or you can continue your journey.
This time you will first face Team Rocked. How you get past Mt. Moon is shown in the video below:
Step 3: 2. Gym or Nugget Bridge
Now if you have reached Cerulean City, you got two options. U can go over Route 24 to Route 25 battle trainers and grab exp. on your Snubbull or try to fight Misty. In order to get your 3rd Arena Badge u need to do both tasks, but your free to do first what you like. If you go first for the Route 25 Quest u will have an easier life beating Misty, cause your Pokemons are on a higher level.

Step 4: get "Cut" from S.S. Anne for the 4th Gym
Now that we are in Vermillion City we need to get HM - 01 Cut. The HM is located in the ship in Vermillion City. To get entrance you need the ticket from Bill in Route 25. I recommend that you explore the ship and talk to all npc's there to battle them. Not all of them will battle you automatically. You need to talk to them. You really need the exp. from the fights to battle Lt. Surge. In the next video i am going to show you how to get HM - 01 Cut and how you start your bike quest.
Step 5: beat Lt. Surge
Step 6: get HM - 05 Flash
After the third Gym, you need to buy 2x TM - 24 Thunderbolt at the Gym. Then you need to pick up the HM - 05 Flash. Go over Route 11 through the Diglett Cave. Make sure that you got 10 Pokemon caught. If you cant find it, check out the video below.
Step 7: move to Celadon City
If you got both, HM - 01 Cut and HM - 05 Flash, you can go back to Cerulean City and go over Route 9 to the Rock Tunnel. To get past the Tunnel you need a Pokemon which can use Flash, like a Pika or a Psyduck. After the Rock Tunnel go from Lavender Town over Route 8, where you can catch the Ditto for your bike, to Celadon City. If you cant find the way through the Rock tunnel watch the video below.
Step 8: Celadon City Rocket hideout quest
In Celadon City we got our first Rocket hideout. To start the quest talk to the officer north from the Pokecenter. Feel free to find out the solution by yourself. But if you get stuck you can watch the next video and get help. A small tip, a water type Pokemon on level 40 will help you to beat Govanni.
Step 9: beat the 4th Gym
After the Rocket hideout quest, the 4th Gym has opend. In this Gym Grass - Type Pokemon are used, so Pokemons like Charmander the starter or Vulpix from Route 8 are strong. If you are interessted how i beat the 4th Gym feel free to watch the next video.
Step 10: Lavender Town and the Poke Flute
The Way to Route 13 is blocked by a Snorlax. To get rid of him, you need to battle your way to the top of the Poke Tower in Lavender Town and the Poke Flute from Fuji. In the tower you can also catch a Gastly. Really try to catch a good one, because this will make your future way much easier.
Step 11: go to Fuchsia city and get HM - 03 Surf
In order to get the HM - 03 Surf, you need to go over Route 12, 13, 14 and 15 to Fuchsia City. Arrived in Fuchsia City heal your Pokemons in the Pokecenter and go to Route 19. On Route 19 talk to Steven and defeat his Pikachu. But be carefull, his Pika now the move Surf. After you defeated Steven go to the Safari House, lockated north in Fuchsia City, and pay 5000 PokeDollars to get in. Move to the Safari Area 3, go in the wooden house and take the HM - 03 Surf from the table.
Step 12: beat Janine
The next step is to defeat Janine. The trainers in the Gym mostly using Psycho - Type Pokemons, while herself is ussing Poison - Type.
With an Gastly you should have an easy live. But well sometimes you need 2 trys to beat Janine like me ;)
Step 13: Saffron City Silph Co Quest
For the next quest in Saffron City in order to unlock the 6th Gym you got two options. You can rush the quest and battle just one Trainer in the building or you can go and battle all the Trainers in it. The second option I reccomend only if your Pokemons need some Exp. The faster way is shown in the next video.
Step 14: 6th vs. Sabrina
In order to earn the 6th badge you need to defeat Sabrina. Sabrina is the leader of the Saffron City Gym. She is using only Psycho - Type Pokemons, so if you got that Gastly I reccomended you to catch, you will oneshot all her Pokes and have a fast and easy win. You also can Dark - Type Pokemons or Pokemons with the Sucker Punch move. To get past the Trainers in this Gym can be sometimes a bit challenging, but in the video below you can watch how to pass the maze
Step 15: Cinnabar Mansion
Okay now that you got 6 badges, the next stop will be on the Cinnabar Islands. On your way you can train your Pokemons in Seafoam 3F if u like or go straigh for the Cinnabar Mansion. On the island you need to do another quest in order to open the 7th Gym. Go to the Cinnabar Mansion 3F and battle the Magikarp guy, after that go straight down and take the door. In the nex room you need to grab a key and you unlocked the Gym. If you can figure out how to get the key, watch the Video below.
Step 16: beat Blaine
Blaine is the Gymleader of the 7th badge. He is using Fire - Type Pokemons. So a Water - Type or a high level Pokemon which isn't weak against Fire should be enough to beat him. I beat him with my Gastly on level 95. But his first Poke got the move Crunch, so try to bring this Pokemon to half HP with your other Pokes and then switch on on Gastly. after this you can nearly oneshot the rest of his team.
Step 17: beat Giovanni
Giovanni is the one guy you need to beat several times in the Kanto story. The last battle vs. him is the hardest because he got an Mewto which outsppeds nearly everthing at this point. So we need Pokemons with Dark - Type moves and prority, like Sucker Punch. I didn't record a video for this fight, because it is so easy if u do it right. Just start with your Gastly and use Sucker Punch. It probably won't kill his Mewto, but just switch to another poke revive Gastly and to the same move again. You will lose your other Pokemons, but you just need that Gastly. Do it like 3-4 times and you won the fight.
